The Role
The Lead Technician will take ownership of on-site installation, configuration, and servicing of innovative security and smart home systems.
This role is crucial in delivering dependable, beautiful, and user-friendly experiences to our residential and commercial clients. The ideal candidate leads by example, mentors junior technicians, and upholds our core values: collaborative, accountable, proactive, curious, passionate, and creative in every aspect of the job.
Responsibilities
- Leads and guide installation teams on job sites, ensuring clear communication, shared understanding of tasks, and alignment with project timelines.
- Coordinates closely with project managers, programmers, and system designers to translate design plans into flawless installations.
- Takes ownership of the technical execution on-site: Ensuring all systems (security, access control, surveillance, automation, AV, etc.) are installed to company standards.
- Verifies work quality through final walk-throughs, documentation, and functional testing.
- Maintains accurate records, service logs, and client signoffs to support successful project closeout.
- Identify and resolve technical or installation issues before they impact client experience or project progress.
- Prepares for each job by reviewing project documentation, gathering required tools/materials, and planning the installation approach.
- Ensures job sites are organized, clean, and safe always.
- Stays current on new technologies, installation techniques, and product updates across the smart home and security landscape.
- Shares insights with internal teams to help improve processes, tools, and systems.
- Takes pride in delivering high-quality work and exceptional customer experiences—from technical craftsmanship to personal interaction.
- Represents the brand with professionalism, care, and integrity on every job site.
- Problem-solves on the fly—developing smart, efficient solutions when faced with installation challenges or space constraints.
- Contributes ideas for improving system performance, layout, or aesthetic integration.
- Adapts your approach based on client feedback or environmental conditions to maintain excellence in execution.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in low voltage systems is a plus
- 3–5 years of experience in smart home, AV, or low-voltage security installation
- Proficiency with one or more platforms (e.g., Control4, Lutron, Savant, Alarm.com, Ring, Nest, Crestron, Hikvision)
- Solid understanding of low-voltage wiring, networking basics, power management, and system configuration
- Experience reading schematics, floor plans, and system diagrams
- Comfortable with ladders, power tools, and physically demanding work environments
- Effective communication and leadership skills
- Certifications (CEDIA, ESA, Control4, Lutron, or equivalent) a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Occasional travel required
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing, stooping, or bending may be required
- Ability to lift to and carry 60 pounds as needed
- Ability to work in tight spaces and at ladder height
- Ability to work in varying environmental conditions
